Not So Good-ins
Hey Guys,
I hope and trust that everyone is doing well out in good 'ol bloggerland. I know it's been a long time since I've posted anything here, so for you few folks who still drop by from time to time let me extend my sincerest apologies. Honestly my life has been a mess for the last year or so, but thankfully things are starting to look up and I'm hoping to have more time to post projects (past and present) up here for those who might be interested. In looking back through files I ran across this project and thought it might be a good place to start.
So way back when I was contacted by the kind folks at NDi Media out of Montreal regarding a project that they were developing called "Hans Hans the Biking Viking". Eventually I was brought on board to do some development for the property and I must say it was an absolute joy to work on. The kind folks at NDi were extremely patient as I worked through the process and, along with their support and encouragement, I think we landed on some fun/interesting takes on these guys. In the images above you'll find the final treatment of the main characters, some development to get to that point, and other incidentals too. Hope you guys like 'em okay.
If you have some time, please drop by NDi's site: http://www.nditeravision.com/ to check out info about Hans Hans, or you can go here: http://www.bikingviking.com/index.php?sec=4 to check out/play "Loki's Lockup", the video game that was developed to accompany the property.
Be blessed guys and, as always, thanks for dropping by-
Miah

these are wonderful. great shapes. thanks for posting these. :)
I follow your stuff on google reader (which allows me to stop by only when new content arrives) and am always stolked when you post! Great work! Can't wait to see more.
Fantastic work. I'm a big fan of Norse myths too!
Gah so much Awesome in one post!!! Do know how you do it, but I'm glad you do :)
Forgive my bad English, again thanks for showing your talent here, from Guatemala is a pleasure to see you, your work inspires continue drawing.
I hope all is well in your life.
Heya guys.... thanks for stopping by and I apologize for taking so long to get back to you...
Beatriz- Thanks so much for the kind words. With regards to clean up, all of these images were rendered in PS with a wacom tablet. At that time, Cintiqs weren't an option, but now-a-days I do all of my work on Cintiq. The line itself is just the stock PS brush, and the tapering was, on these, a mixture of both brush and eraser to get the proper effect. Not sure if that helps, but that's pretty much it. :)
Michael- Thanks so much, glad that you liked 'em..
Aaron- Thanks man. I'm humbled that you'd be following me no matter the platform. A huge compliment coming from an artist like yourself. Thanks for taking the time to stop by when new stuff is up man..... really means alot.
Finbar- Thanks so much. The Norse mythology is really cool.... I didn't know too much about it prior to working with this property, but it definitely provides some tremendous opportunity for design and appealing asthetics.
Chris- Man you're too kind dude. I just appreciate you taking the time to stop by. Thanks so much sir.
Hecoart- Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed the roughs and thanks for taking the time out to stop by.
Thanks again everybody. Be blessed!
Very interesting designs, and I must say as a Swede that it's nice to see the designs and clothes be more like traditional vikings instead of all the bling and gold the marvel characters have. :)
Especially on Odin, it shows you've done some research.
Now if only the world would remember vikings don't have horns, haha.
Just happened to stumble by this blog;
these are some nice character concepts, I could see them being in a comic strip or a TV series! I'd have to say my favorite sprite is the Frigg Suggestion, specifically #2. These should be published!
Best! from All New Artists!
Nice work Miah!
lots of fun! the bike is great!
This stuff is sooooo dope! Amazing man!
